Nevermore

Nevermore has been my fantasy child of ten years, while still unborn, but still holds a space in my heart to one day be complete, both as a written novel as well as a graphic novel.

Cayla Hopkins is a college freshman, finding herself increasingly disillusioned with the world, unable to shake the feeling there is something more. Luna Lenne is a powerful caster and knight of the fortress Bachei, cursed forever as a slave to the moon. When Cayla finds herself deep in the forest where Bachei rests, confused and unsure how she came to be there, her fate becomes entwined with Luna’s to an outcome neither could have foreseen.

As fate unfolds, can Luna free her heart from the shadows of her past?
Will Cayla find her way home, and will she take that path to a normal mundane life?

She stared into the approaching void, watching the darkness lash out and crawl toward her rapidly. She’d fought with them before, had even tried to run, so she knew in this moment that she could never be faster than nothingness. Something so shapeless with grasping claws, clamping around her ankles and feet; even her voice was too paralyzed to scream.

“Wake up!” a distant voice cried.

Wake up? Like this was all just some form of nightmare you could roll over and forget?
No, not this time… even if it was a dream she could wake from, there was no forgetting. Her fading sanity littered her arm in formless shadows, as the product of her recklessness seeped its way into her blood.

After all… what is the price of living with your misdeeds?
